Identifying the best area to stay in Miami with your partner is more complex than it may seem. In Miami, many accommodation options are coupled with the city’s massive size.
So, it all boils down to the environment you want, your daily lifestyle as a couple, and the activities you plan to engage in while in Miami.
For instance, Miami Beach appeals more to couples who crave fun and water-like activities, and Miami Downtown favors couples in the city for business. At the same time, Little Havana is Miami’s cultural hub to suit couples on tour.
So what’s the point? There’s no all-embracing best area for couples to reside in Miami, depending on the experience you anticipate getting.
As a local, I have written this guide to show you the best areas where couples get the best out of visiting Florida’s most beautiful city and how you can make the best decision for your stay here.
What is the best area to stay in Miami for couples?
Coconut Grove is the best area to stay in Miami for couples. It’s a romantic laid-back area south of Miami Downtown, with great spots for walks and one of the most chilled-out areas in the city. The Mid Beach in Miami Beach is a better option.
I stayed in Hilton Cabana at Mid Beach with my wife, and I can say this area isn’t the best for couples who like nightlife, but you’ll find a few beautiful restaurants for a lovely couple’s dinner.
The point is that you can’t get a hundred percent from a particular area. Your decision will be based on your priorities as a couple.
Here are my top recommendations on where to stay in Miami as a couple:
1. Coconut Grove
Coconut Grove is a perfect romantic getaway. The architecture, attractions, and colorful streets create a dreamy vibe for couples.
I particularly like how The Hollywood Reporter puts it: “far less flashy than South Beach, more lush and scenic than Wynwood, and very much in demand.”
You and your partner can immerse yourselves in local culture with simple activities like strolling around.
The area is laid-back, but you can quickly reach Downtown Miami for some nighttime fun via bus or taxi. Coconut Grove also offers excellent dining experiences.
Ariete is an upscale restaurant with modern twists on traditional American cuisine, and Greenstreet Café serves delicious comfort foods for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner. These are the two popular locations for couples in Coconut Grove that tourists never fail to leave out on their review lists.
For a laid-back yet classy retreat, consider Mr. C Miami with a funky boutique stay, rooftop outdoor pool, and bicycles for local tours.
2. Mid Beach
Mid Beach in Miami Beach offers a tranquil setting for couples seeking a romantic getaway.
The neighborhood boasts an array of romantic accommodations, from beachside resorts to private condos. Although Mid Beach offers little nightlife, South Beach is just a cab ride away.
For Late-night dining, you and your partner can occasionally visit Lola Restaurant and Grill, which occasionally hosts live music shows.
During my stay in Mid Beach with my wife, we went to the Norman’s Tavern for drinks. You’ll like it here for the variety of cocktails and sports entertainment.
For couples seeking luxury, the Fontainebleau Miami Beach Resort is the best shot. It features stunning ocean views, lavish rooms, and a spa.
3. North Beach
If you’re a couple looking to start a small family in Miami or looking for a budget-friendly vacation in Miami with small kids, then North Beach is the best option.
With its laid-back atmosphere, this destination is perfect for some family-friendly fun.
Your kids will love the range of playground options, such as Beach View Park and Vita Course. The seaside nautical-themed park boasts a fully equipped playground for the little ones while you and your partner enjoy the beach.
Crespi Park is also an excellent option for young children. Head to Fifi’s on the Beach Seafood Restaurant for foodie adventures for some delicious marine delights.
The food, location, and charming decor make for an unforgettable family experience.
I particularly recommend the Oceanside Hotel and Suites as an accommodation option. It’s a short walk away from the beach.
The furnished living space, kitchenette, and laundry space are designed to feel like home.
4. Brickell
Brickell is an ideal neighborhood for couples with grown-up children looking to stay in Miami.
This location provides easy access to major child-friendly attractions like the Miami Seaquarium.
Apart from that, Downtown’s attractions are a short ride away through the Miami Metromover.Â
For accommodation options in Brickell for couples, look no further than the Fortune House Suites and Apartments. You’ll love the convenient location since it’s just meters away from everything.
I also love how the private rooms offer a spectacular view of the Atlantic Ocean, and the rooftop outdoor swimming pool is perfect for relaxation.
One thing to look out for as a couple staying in the Brickell area of Miami is the high rush-hour traffic and limited parking spaces.
Also, Brickell is known to be a pricey neighborhood, which can impact your budget.
In summary
According to Florida’s Office of Economic and Demographic Research, 329,717 new residents move to Florida for a new life from April 2020 to April 2021. To this effect, there are myriads of accommodation options. But don’t get it twisted; some options will best serve tourists, while others will best serve families or couples.
Mid Beach in Miami Beach is the best option for a romantic stay with your partner. Coconut Grove is a beautiful alternative. If you’re moving to North Beach for a small family, Brickel is great.
So, the first step to identifying where to stay in Miami as a couple is to know what you want, then choose a location from these areas that perfectly suit your anticipated experience.
