Ron Ehmann Park: A Nature Lover’s Paradise

Ron Ehmann Park

About

There are many parks in Miami-Dade County. However, parks such as Ron Ehmann Park are hard to come by as it offers such a beautiful blend of relaxation and comfort and a perfect balance of recreation and nature.

The park located at 10995 SW 97th Ave, Miami, FL 33176, United States is named in honor of Ronald Ray Ehmann (1940-1975). Ronald Ehmann was a revered coach of the Killian Cougars before his death at the age of 34 in a tragic car accident.

Coach Ehmann as he was popularly called was well-known for his enthusiasm for outdoor activities, athletics, and physical fitness.

One beautiful thing I however love about Ron Ehmann Park is its beautiful trails. It is such a great place to walk around. Every time I visit Ron Ehmann Park with my dog, Riley, he is always so excited. He loves to chase around the nice colored lizards and the iguanas.

In addition, if you are a lover of nature, Ron Ehmann Park is your go-to park. Also, if you love sports and you want to have a fun time with friends and families, visit Ron Ehmann Park.

There are lots of sports facilities and playgrounds available for you to make use of and have some fun.

Brief History Of Ron Ehmann

Ron Ehmann (1940-1975) popularly known as Coach Ehmann by his students and the Killian  Cougars was a Biology and Physical Education teacher at Killian high school before taking over the Physical Education department.

Coach Ehmann was well-known for his passion for outdoor activities, athletics, and physical fitness.

Ron Ehmann was well respected among his students and although he died at the early age of 34, he still managed to accompany six of Killian’s most accomplished athletes as they participated in the Marine Corps Physical Fitness Test.

Ehmann Park, a 14.5-acre park located in Miami just across the school he coached and worked at Killian High School was named in honor of him.

Why Ron Ehmann Park?

You may wonder why you should choose Ron Ehmann Park anytime you are in Miami-Dade. However, I am here to assure you that Ron Ehmann is all fun and relaxation.

On vacation days, I go to the Park with my dog to walk the trail and have a feel of the cool evening breeze.

Another reason you should choose the Park is the fact that this park features a walking track through seven acres of a pine rockland environment that has been maintained and is only found on the limestone terrain in South Florida and the Bahamas.

Also, only slash pines and a background tale of palms, shrubs, and herbs are found in this environment.

In addition, in Miami Dade County, where pine rockland once covered 180,000 acres, only 2% are now protected as parks and preserves due to urbanization.

Playground and Camping Sites

If you are a lover of sports, then Ron Ehmann Park is your go-to park. The park which has a lot of sports facilities to explore leaves sports lovers with varieties of sports for them to enjoy. Some of the sports facilities include a soccer field, a basketball court, a softball field, and six lighted tennis courts among others.

Also, Ron Ehmann Park is a great place to bring your kids and have them enjoy some fun time. There is a playground for them to run around freely and exercise their bodies.

There is a recreation center and outdoor fitness center with equipment to exercise your body as well.

If you are a dog lover, you can come along with your dog to walk the trail. Ron Ehmann Park is pet friendly and I’m very sure your dog would love to be here.

Aside from the beautiful trails in the Park, there are also some amazing photo spots for you to take some nice photos with your friends, families, and loved ones. If you are lucky, you can capture an iguana, a brown anole lizard, or a nice colored lizard.

Also, you don’t need to worry about parking when coming to Ehmann Park so you can come along with your vehicles. There is plenty of space for parking especially on the north and east sides.

In addition, Ron Ehmann Park has some amazing spots for you to sit and enjoy the cool evening breeze, catch some amazing views and even bird watch.
