There are great places and parks in Miami-Date you can go with your family to have a great, and South Dade Park is definitely one of them. South Dade Park is a hidden gem just waiting to be found. It is nestled among Southern Florida’s rich vegetation and breathtaking natural splendor.
Every day from sunrise to sunset, the park is open. It has a playground that is well-bordered by big shade trees to protect you from the Florida sun. There are also tennis and basketball courts, a fitness area, a skate park, a walking trail, and a playground for kids available in the park.
In fact, South Dade Park provides a unique opportunity to reconnect with nature and indulge in various recreational activities and spend your time with people. Enough said, here are some of the best things you can do at the park:
Skate park
South Dade Park’s skate park is an excellent spot and one place I always make sure to visit whenever I am in the park.
The skate park at South Dade Park is a thrilling and dynamic destination for both kids and adults to skate, scooter, and cycle. The skate park, which is located within the wider park grounds, provides a dedicated location for riders to demonstrate their talents, learn new tricks, and interact with other aficionados. Here’s what you need to know about South Dade Park’s skate park:
There is a street course which is a series of obstacles that are designed to simulate the obstacles that skaters find in the real world. I was also able to spot a beginner area that is designed for skaters who are just starting out. There are a variety of rails in the skate park. It is a place you do not want to miss if you are a skater.
The best part is that the skate park at South Dade Park is well-maintained, has a great atmosphere, and recently just got a paint job.
Make sure to wear protective gear including a helmet, knee pads, and wrist guard.
Helen Sands Pool
Helen sands pool is such a cool place to be especially if you are coming with family. Although I don’t usually spend too much time here, it is definitely going to be worth your time if you go especially with young ones.
The Helen Sands Pool is available all year and features an eight-lane pool, a water slide tower, waterfall palm trees, a “dancing” splash pad, and other amenities to keep the youngsters entertained while they swim laps.
The park also organizes swim programs for both children and grown-ups, so you can choose to attend and I definitely recommend them.
In addition, A playground is also available for Children to enjoy playing on the swings, slides, and other equipment in the playground. Some of these equipments include a rope bridge, dinosaur-themed see-saws, and monkey bars, to name a few. Worried about monitoring your children? Don’t worry, there the many benches( I was able to spot some) that surround the play area.
Mini pitches
Soccer brings individuals and different cultures together, and it is definitely one of the things that keep me coming back to this park. It’s a language that everyone can understand, regardless of background.
There are two mini-pitches available in the park and they were created from old tennis courts. They were built in 2019 as part of a partnership between Miami-Dade Parks, the U.S. Soccer Foundation, and Target. The mini-soccer fields are a great place for kids and adults to play soccer. They are also a popular spot for pick-up games.
The pitches include goals on either end that are laid out on a bright red surface, with the iconic Target logo in the center, and a fence around them.
Before you go, note that the fields are for soccer only and if you are coming with your Dogs, make sure to Pick up after your dog.
Other Programs and Activities
The park also holds other programs both for adults and kids. Examples include Summer camps that last for more than two months each year. There are also programs meant to promote a healthy lifestyle by teaching fitness, nutrition, and general well-being to both children and senior citizens.
In addition, there are also tennis and basketball courts where you can do that awesome dunk or just want to do some exercise and have fun.
